This is an interesting question from SEO point of view. There is lot of scope for SEO over social networks like twitter, linkedIn and also including facebook. Follow these steps:

1. Open a unique facebook account dedicated to the website/blog. Provide all information including the location and contacts. Make the cover photo attractive and relevant with the site's theme.
   
2. Now create a page with the site details and purpose. Promote it through your various internet properties like blog,email(signature), skype,gtalk,forums etc. Post interesting daily topics, news and info on the page to keep up the interests of new visitors.
   
3. Involve into discussions on various group which are relevant to the site. Promote the page through those groups as signature or direct sharing.
   
4. Interlink your blog,site,facebook account,facebook page,linkedIn account and twitter account so that what ever you post on your site, it will instantly get published to all your social properties.
   
5. Once your site's posts which are shared on social networks start getting retweets and likes by genuine profiles, which google will be able to crawl, these activities will help to increase your site's online reputation and thereby increase google ranking as well as help your SEO process.
