Outbound links are those links which goes to another website from your website. Outbound links add a value to your site by providing useful information to visitor. But also remember using high amount of outbound links can harm your site SEO.

Do not link too many sites within a single post or page. 2 to 3 per post is enough. If it is necessary to add more links than made it nofollow attribute to it.

According to Marketing Terms:

Outbound links send visitors away from your web site. Attitudes towards outbound links vary considerably among site owners. Some site owners still link freely. Some refuse to link at all, and some provide links that
open in a new browser window.

Opponents of outbound linking argue that it risks losing time and money from site visitors. This can be a large risk if a site is facing high customer acquisition costs.

However, according to Moz:
Outbound links are call External links, and this have 2 kind of external links

External Links are hyperlinks that point at (target) any domain other than the domain the link exists on (source).

In layman's terms, if another website links to you, this is considered an external link to your site. Similarly, if you link out to another website, this is also considered an external link.

Hope this helps.

Seems you got the most important thing covered. I've read about a few "experiments" that show how pages with outbound links to authority sites do rank better than the pages without it. So at best you rank better, and at worst you did nothing to your SEO (by adding those external links).

In the end, the main purpose of it should be to add value to your post/page and as such should not be avoided as long as the links are natural and make sense.

Be wary not to end up spamming outbound links. 2-3 links per, let's say, 1000 words seems like a reasonable milestone.

A few outbound links to high authority sites and a few internal links to your other posts/content and you are good to go.

Outbound links are links that are meant to take you elsewhere. These are links that are going to direct you to another specific webpage or website altogether.

There are two types of outbound links dofollow & nofollow.

The dofollow link is the normal link, passes on Google PageRank juice from your webpage to the targeted webpage.

A nofollow link is the abnormal link. It does not pass on any Google PageRank juice to the targeted webpage but instead, it blocks off the Google PageRank flow.

oubound links are links to external/other websites. If the outbound links are too high per past/page. Google will consider your site as a spam site. that's why vishwa said it would be not good for SEO.
In another way, however, external links to good page (google maps, msn, wikipedia,... or others good site) will consider your conten is reliable (not too much links out per page/post).

The links which comes out from your website is the outbound links.
If you link third party links in your website then it is treated as outbound links.

Link quality links as outbound links that should be relevant to your industry or article you are linking in. So that it helps to perform better in your SEO campaigns.

The outbound links means the links that take you to another website or you can say that it redirects to you other site from present site. If you added lots of other sites link in your site so it will definitely harm your ranking. So always use nofollow link when you link to other site.
