The emotional connection with customers, is a longing for all brands, strong brands succeed because your name is remembered, even beyond the attributes of your product. Here are some tips for choosing a good name for your brand.

Choosing the right name for your brand is the first step to lead to failure of a product. Hence the importance of choosing a word that identifies the maximum benefits that your product will appeal to your prospects, a name that when people hear or read it, think identifies your product. Below we present some considerations for a brand name:

1. Unique and relate to your products
To create a descriptive and memorable name, the first step to consider is to ask what drives your business and what is unique about your product. To do this, it will help make a lot of brainstorming, since a word or phrase can help dilute new ideas. Let your imagination flow.

2. A catchy domain
Once you have a list of words, discriminates which are hard to remember or pronounce, because remember that your brand will be mentioned in videos, radio, television and in conversations, so you should make it easier for your potential customers find your mark in any medium.

3. Check if the domain is available
We are in full digital era and an important part of your business is your online platform. So before you choose the name of your brand, you should check if the domain for your website is available on domain registrars' website.

4. Precise
A word is enough to denote the qualities of your brand, consider if you are going to use upper and lower case, as these can be the difference in trademark registration. Avoid names with two or more identical vowels, like using numbers, except in cases that has a meaning closely related to product characteristics.

Great post!

These days there are hundreds of new TLDs available which means you don't have to go for your typical ".com, .net, .info" domain extensions and with that it opens up the possibility of many names... Some cool domains out there are like ".ninja" , ".club" , ".zone" - so your branding could fit into that quite easily...

In addition it does help with looking into keywords/traffic numbers wrt exact or partial match domains.... Noting G's EMD algo targets poor quality content sites so as long as you avoid that you'll be fine... in other cases its also fine to even invent a word which can really catch on as mentioned above re: catchy domain...

I also think shorter names with out the hypthen in the URL is a good approach as you want it to be easy to remember....

Look forward to reading other people's views...

Cheers,

Sid

I agree that a domain name should be unique to you, but at the same time if possible you should try and least make it sound like relation to the niche your in.

I know some may point to domains ( Brands ) like apple, egg, amazon and so on, but on the whole I would try and make it slightly relative to your niche if possible.

I don't like hyphons, more than two words or domains with uppercase characters in them.

I also make sure that I can get the exact domain name brand for my twitter account and Facbook pages.

I'm currently trying to decide on a domain name for my own business, and I'm torn between making it a two word description of what I'm trying to sell, or giving it a catchy name that may not be so easily identified as relating to my product. I'm worried that the descriptive name wouldn't be so unique and memorable, but is it the safest bet?
