What is your current theme? it's a shared/premium theme or custom theme made by yourself?

Go to theme folder and add meta tag to your header.php file or choosing other options as below



I like Google Analytics code method to verify with google webmaster tool, to do this, make sure that you need to verify google analytics first.

You should try SEO Yoast plugin to verify your wordpress website. This can also help you to improve website's meta tags.
To verify webmaster tool just put your verification code there(Google, Bing).
