That all depends on whether you are marketing a consumer market or B2B. For me
personally, when I am trying to target a more consumer based market, I head straight
to my twitter accounts. And when targeting B2B, LinkedIn, hands down, no questions

If you are looking for professional or business based traffic/leads then LinkedIn would probably be best.
If you are looking for regular consumers / clients for a product or service or doing some form of marketing to the general public, then definitely Twitter would be the best choice.

I have tried both of them in my company, but Twitter is more useful for us to drive user engagement.

I would go for twitter. It is best for your online promotion campaign.

You can try both because it depends on the business. Its not always that if Twitter worked for others can also work for you and vice-versa.
So it is highly advisable to try both of them and then see the difference yourself.

I'll say twitter because it's quick, fast, and targeted. I haven't used LinkedIn before but it can also use to market but base on users success rate twitter is prety good. you can try both and see which one works best.

LinkedIn and Twitter both have strong points. Use both
LinkedIn is a social network that is geared towards professionals and businesses.
LinkedIn also has many benefits that Twitter cannot match.
Here's an infographic about Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
I also think Techwyse does a good job comparing LinkedIn to Twitter.

It depends on your niche and target audience:
If you are targeting student community, facebook is the apt thing
If you are using professionals in a certain industry, linked in is the right thing
if you want consumer or celebrity based market, its twitter obviously

For me, it's not a question of which is better because I don't put them in the same category. LinkedIn is totally different that Twitter to me. They are both good for what they are.

For me Twitter provide better result than LinkedIn. So my vote goes to Twitter.

It all depends upon the nature of services or products you want to promote and the number of real followers in twitter and the number of linkedin connections. So Linkedin is more professional. You can also try both and after sometime you will get an idea which social network site performs well.

Twitter is good for current events, news, sports, etc. LinkedIn has its' purposes too, business related content and connections.
LinkedIn visitor quality is typically much higher than Twitter.
It just depends on your audience and what it is you're doing.

In my humble opinion Twitter is very easy to use and get quick results, whereas there are really two kinds of people who use LinkedIn, those who are hiring and those who want to be hired. I think it is smart to customize the type of content you post through both networks accordingly.

I think linkedin is better especially when you market yourself or if you are a jobseeker wants to be hired easily. It is much easier for employers to get to know the prospect employee through his or her linkedin account. It is also easier to the jobseeker to find prospect companies thru linkedin.

I'II go for Twitter since I'm using it, and besides I'm not familiar with LinkedIn. It's obvious LinkedIn is a network for professionals, therefore businesses should use it to build relationship with other business.
On the other hand, Twitter is fast-paced, brief, and easy to connect with your audience. It is also a great way to share quick thoughts, but make sure to build relationship with the followers.

If you want to socialized with other people and post some of your event used twitter. but if you are professional and looking for a job then linkedin is better for you. In my own opinion I don't like using twitter it's just a site used when you want to follow friends and most specially celebrities. Though I have Linkedin account but I seldom used it I am more on facebook for my online business that I post in there since facebook has a lot of users compare to twitter.

There are some niches which can work on both, but...
On Linkiedin you have a more critical crowd (higher level of education and expertise).
They do have more money to spend, but they also tend to be more picky about who they spend it with or on.
(plus there is then the question of niche, because some things just don't work well for either platform)
At the end of the day, it depends on where you are comfortable. if you are a professional who can hold your own against other business professionals, Linkedin can be great.
But if you are more of a conversational marketer...
Twitter is going to do better for you.
