I have a landing page and I want to use the same design for a report. The idea is that I would convert the landing page PSD to Wordpress template. I tried the service Online Convert, but the output was a mess and the design was not even copied.

Have any of you had to do this before? Any advice as to what steps I need to do to convert an PSD file to a Wordpress template for editing?

IT not that hard but it not so easy

First your should know HTML and CSS
Second You should aware of Little Basics PHP
Thirds WordPress Works on Hooks

First of all make html and CSS layout of your PSD make sure you create it as you want it must check px and proper place of content.

Then You Just have to copy past some part of Design for that first you need blank WordPress Theme file which available on web for free

After that you have to replace style CSS with your CSS and next you have to replace parts of webpage e.g. header, footer , keep content place empty because in WordPress you have to work on design and Menus only rest web-hooks do it self.

This simple guide rest better you see basic template converter videos on YouTube.

Hope this little guide give you startup idea

I heard about a blank wordpress theme for theme developer but not ever seen or used it before. Does it have a standard blank theme that you knew?

[URLnofo]http://html5blank.com/[/URLnofo] is ideal for you to starts with it's html blank WordPress files there

hooks are like php code where you can call property which you enter in back-end e.g. when you create page in back end where you write tittle add content add future image.

in theme template you just have t add little codes to call that content e.g. <?php get_template_part( 'menu', 'Main' ); ?> with this you can pull your Main menu so you put this code in header where you want as per your HTML

more hooks you find here [URLnofo]https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/[/URLnofo]

Here 6 or 7 videos complete guide PSD to WordPress

First of all you need to slice all PSDs and then make a separate segment of it, so that it will help you in managing few things simultaneously. After that put that sliced PSD into the theme in WordPress with the help of a designer which can help you in this process because neat & clean hand coding helps in this area. If you still face any problem then you can visit [URLnf="https://www.behance.net/gallery/31008141/PSD-to-WordPress-Theme-Conversion"]here[/URLnf] to know about how a PSD file are being converted into WordPress theme and templates. It will help a lot.
