I saw various search engine blogs mentioning http to https as a best choice for SEO, they are saying that if you change your website from Http to Https then obtaining better Google rankings, it's correct? and is it recommended or accepted by Bing and Yahoo as a ranking factor?

Any thoughts?

I would say that shifting from HTTP to HTTPS indefinitely an excellent choice and surely increases your visibility.

As far as I am aware, Google, for instance, gives more relevance to sites running HTTPS, as I have seen a definite increase in my traffic up to 10,000 visitors in merely 11 days after I installed SSL over the site.

Shifting from http to https is a good move but as far as SEO is concerned although it is a ranking factor but still it doesn't have that much impact on ranking it is one of the many ranking factors which search engine takes into consideration while deciding ranking

Yes but it's like 1% of the ranking factor that's it and no more! Installing SSL on your site isn't going to do much if your site isn't already ranking for anything and doesn't even really need SSL.

Yeah sorry but I gotta call you out on this one Alex bud, if you're going to say something like that, at least back it up with some sort of evidence be it screenshots whatever?

I can't see how any site would suddenly get 10,000 visitors in just 11 days by just installing SSL.

It doesn't really do anything on it's own and Google takes a lot longer to update its index than 11 days.

Also there is no way that installing SSL on your site will increase your "visibility" either. How does having SSL increase visibility?

Are you sure you even mean visibility and not something else Alex? Don't you mean "trust"? Yeah, I'm going to go with that. Perhaps English is not your native language I presume. :)

But it simply must have been some other reason or you are talking wet mate sorry.
I'm going to call BS on that one. 10,000 more visitors just for installing SSL. If that is true, you are literally the ONLY person online reporting that kind of increase.
Exactly, I don't mean to crucify anyone but that is the biggest load of BS I've seen and smelled this year so far. Such a wild thing to say! Some people don't even know they're talking let alone what they're talking about LOL

Google has recently announce that they will give priority sites with https but it is only for just 1% of search result. For long run it will take some time. I personally never see any drop in ranking of my site which is not with https.

Whoa whoa whoa. Recently? That announcement was made Wednesday, August 06, 2014... Almost 2 years ago.

On the Official Google Webmaster Blog here.

I wouldn't really call it "recent".

And where did you see they said it is only for just 1% of search result?

There is nowhere where they have said that it's any certain percentage of ranking factor.

Please don't give misinformation about SEO on the forum unless you can back it up with absolute fact otherwise it's just pure hearsay and almost heresy.

I know I have said something similar in the past that it's only like 1% of your SEO score but that was because people were putting too much emphasis and hopes on SSL helping them to rank high.

As I've said before, if your site isn't already ranking for anything, installing and using SSL on your site isn't really going to do much or have much effect on its own.

I personally never see any drop in ranking of my site which is not with https.
Well that doesn't even make any sense. To me. What does that even mean mate?

Are you saying that because your site has SSL, it doesn't drop in ranking?

If that's so, I don't think that the SSL has anything to do with a drop or non-drop in rankings.

SSL and switching platforms, I forgot to mention that we used to run Joomla! and switched to WordPress and installed SSL on it. WordPress alone brought us more visitors as it apparently seems that it has more capacity to bring out our content other than using Joomla! besides other technics we adopted recently.

When I referred to an increase of visitors, I was not entirely saying SSL was the main reason but it surely helped us. SSL for us it helped because our content got better placement when searching online, which it didn't had before our switching. And I am Portuguese.

Next time I will try to be more detailed.

Yes, it is better option to move from HTTP to HTTPS. It really help your website to visible in search engines. HTTPS sites are more relevant In Google as compare to HTTP sites.
Traffic rate of HTTPS sites are also more as compare to HTTP.

Hello,

I have tried with many websites, and i did not see any ranking improve with the HTTPS.
In my opinion, HTTPS needs to be use if you collect data of your users, for example if you have an online store. HTTPS will give more trust. But i doubt of the utility of HTTPS for a blog for example.

By using HTTPS, you can rank your website higher in search engine at same time it provides you an extra level of security.

I don't think that it provides any help with your rankings but I prefer to use https as it is the securer option.
