So today I started a new blog got my theme up and plugins sorted and then run into a problem while trying to install the adsense google plugin. For some reason they have stopped this so not sure what plugin to use for adsense now. Can anyone recommend a plugin or is it best to manually add the adsense codes into theme?

I always use the Text widget and it works just fine. Sometimes I will edit the theme files but it's slightly more time consuming when you have to make a child theme or worry about re-adding the adsense code when the theme gets updated..

Yes, Google has stopped their official WordPress plugin. However You can use other plugins like Ad Injection, Easy Plugin for AdSense, Google AdSense by BestWebSoft. These are some of the best plugins to insert AdSense in your blog. Hope it will help you.

I have many Wordpress sites. Any plugin will always stretch out the resources on your server. I simply copy and paste the snippet code for Google and add it within the footer.php file within your Wordpress theme. Since it's JavaScript, it loads last then. Letting more important things load first such as CSS. If it's something this simple, then you should always do it without the use of any plugins.

Insertion of Google Analytics, Piwik or any other web analytics code
Manual insertion: widgets, shortcodes, PHP function call

Insertion of ads on AMP pages
Custom CSS class name for wrapping divs to avoid ad blockers
Insertion of shortcodes from other plugins

I had a similar issue recently. I'd recommend using the "Ad Inserter" plugin. It's versatile and user-friendly for AdSense or any other ad management. Good luck with your blog!

Both methods of incorporating AdSense into your WordPress website have their pros and cons. Using a dedicated plugin can be more user-friendly and time-efficient, as it allows you to manage your AdSense ads with ease and customize them through the plugin's settings. However, manually inserting AdSense codes into your theme gives you more control and flexibility over the placement and design of the ads. Consider your technical skills, desired level of customization, and the ease of management to decide which method suits your needs best.
