@vishwa

So, a session can generate many visits?

A visitor can have many sessions?

Think of it like hosting visitors to come into your home. Some people would come and visit. Come in, sit down and have a cuppa tea and a jaffa cake or a penguin, then leave out the back door after about 5 minutes. That visitor had a session of tea and cake in your home. Meanwhile, other visitors are knocking at your door so you let them in and they sit down and help themselves to tea and cake and watch Bear Grylls survivor island for a bit. Each one of them is a visitor, and each visitor interacted with your home somehow. Obviously, some of those visitors could return, and that would be another visitor, but you would think it was the same if it wasn't for his IP address etc or his name and mustache! So yeah, that's an analogy for how to think about visits and sessions on your we

Sessions tend to be a specified time. For example, if you are working with Google Analytics a session is categorised as the time a user spends on the site from entering onto the first page (the landing page) to either exiting the site altogether or a continuous period of 30 minutes of inactivity. Whereas a visit is merely someone who landed on your site and left again, connected to bounce rate.

Visit is refered when a internet user visits a website and returns without doing any other interaction. Where as session is the time period the website visitor stays in the site for any interaction.

Google Analytics has quietly changed the the term "visits" and "unique visitors." Now, visits is called "sessions" and unique visitors is called "users." A session is defined time in which one user does whatever with website without making it idol. Google Analytics defaults that time frame to 30 minutes.

A visit is counted when a visitor arrives on your website from a page outside your website. Sessions take more interactions than just page views and they expire after 30 minutes of visitor inactivity.
