Are you talking a physical local business with a street address in the local area you want to get traffic from? Have you added the business to google maps yet?

- Google, Yahoo also have option to get business listing.

- Get your business address listed in services like Yelp, Just Dial US. There are lot of alternative services like these. I do not recommend any. Do your own research and get listed.
Google does crawl all these.

When customers search for a keyword like pc repair, Google also considers nearest locations. Make sure you have good reviews. All the best!

I used to do well listing suburbs in footer of site covering all these local areas. As well as meta tags made it part of the content.

Try using meta tags on the main page, the keywords are now indexed by Google and Yahoo.

Proper use of SEO factors like meta tags, meta descriptions, unique title, keywords for your business will help a lot. Social bookmarking and sharing is the best practice for gathering lots of traffic to any website or business.

Nobody looking for a plumber goes to social bookmarking sites. It would be hard to think of anything that would be a bigger waste of time than social bookmarking.

Yeah you are right.. For increasing local searches these things are beneficial and the proper relevancy is important of what you are looking for.
