such backlinks are highly powerful than anything else. and scholarship is the best way to build such links.
Launch scholarship program and pitch mail top universities and colleges. they will list your scholarship webpage in their edu sites and you will get edu backlinks.

its enough

In fact I use them for my backlinks. Especially if these gov/edu sites became backlink trash.

Hey Mark,

They are important because generally .edu and .gov websites are higher authority, therefore if you get a backlink on one of these sites it will generally be more valuable. That being said, there is no magic value of these sites except for the amount of links they have pointing back to them. Other high authority sites, especially in your niche could be just as valuable.

To most people, .edu and .gov are just another top level domain. But to SEOs, those three letters mean so much more. While many people in the SEO world doubt the fact that search engines give .edu and .gov site backlinks special superpowers, we can all agree that sites on .edu and .gov domains have the age, trust and domain authority every link builder loves.

Not as much as it use to, but they do carry weight. Google constantly changes their algorithm so SEO is and will always be a crapshoot. Trying to chase their 1st page for keywords with a good to great amound of traffic is an almost foregone conclusion. My advice is to prioritize other methods for traffic, but still do SEO the right way, maybe Google will change their algorithm someday and your pages will match their specifications.

The average person can’t purchase a .gov domain, so there’s a limited supply of .gov backlinks. Due to their rarity and the other factors in this section, there’s high SEO demand for .gov backlinks.

There is so much horrible misinformation in this thread.

EDU and GOV links do not carry any special value. They are seen the same as any other link.

Anyone selling or offering you EDU or GOV links is either incompetent or a scammer.

Some EDU and GOV websites certainly have a lot of authority, however those sites are almost never going to link to you off a page that matters. For example, a lot of the scammers offering EDU links are simply offering links off of student blogs that students get for free at their school. Those pages have zero authority. The links are utterly worthless.

Now if Harvard wanted to link to you for some reason off of one of their top-level pages, sure, that would be a valuable link. They aren't going to do that though.

TLDR; EDU and GOV links have the exact same value as .com, .net, .org, .info, etc. links.

Anyone that says otherwise is lying to you.
