i am graphic designer and I have more free time and I want to design website then what is the best way to learn web design and development?

htmldog.com (For beginners)

smashingmagazine.com (deals with coding, designing, Wordpress)

Lynda.com (this service isn't free but video tutorial provided by this site are highly recommended )

There are many web designing tutorials that are available online..Why do not you choose one among them..And it is from my experience that w3 schools are the best to learn from basics.

I will recommend to try tutsplus.com which provide free video tutorial for HTML. If you want to learn other languages you can subscribe to their paid plans it will help you lot to learn fast as they provide best video.

W3schoool is not place to learn about J2EE, It's best if you want to learn about HTMl, Css and something related.. In other word, if you want find best source for J2EE, I suggest you try visit docs.oracle.com/javaee/1.4/tutorial/doc more tutorials over there.
