Without knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and general programming skills, it was virtually impossible to create a website. Wanted to have a website had often put down a lot of money.

By the arrival of the Content Management System is happy to change here.

What is a CMS?

CMS stands for Content Management System and is a widely used tool in the development of websites. It is a software system that is usually accessed via the Internet. Via a CMS, you can create a simple but good looking website without too much technical knowledge.

A Content Management System gives you a framework that allows you a simple way:

- can set up the site structure,
- texts and media to manage,
- website navigation can set up,
- can customize the design of the website,
- extra functionalities can install,

Benefits of a Content Management System?

Entails a number of considerable advantages with the use of a CMS.

- Technical knowledge is not necessary (but easy).
- Many Content Management Systems are open source. This means that they are free to use.
- No special development environment. Most CMS are web based and accessible from any PC with internet access. Changes are immediately visible.
- Design and content are always separated from each other (at least in a well-designed CMS). Modifications to the contents do not have any influence on the design and vice versa.
- You make use of a popular CMS is often easy to expand by means of plug-ins.
- You have control over the most important search engine optimization factors.

Why pay for a website developer?

So you will not need technical knowledge and some good Content Management Systems are free as well. Why would I pay a website developer to create a website?

The answer is quite simple: because of his knowledge and expertise!

Many website developers also use a CMS because of the advantages mentioned above. Only have extensive knowledge of CMS, the available plug-ins, and the technique which is necessary to develop a website. They are therefore able to implement special needs in the field of design and functionality in your website.

And there is another aspect that is often overlooked. The website needs to be found by your target audience. This aspect is even seen by most website developers over the head. Personally, I think that's a bad development. There should be always done a research to the search behavior of your target audience. This forms the basis for the content of the website. Stronger. This is on the basis of any online marketing campaign.

Conducting an investigation and making a website is a skill. As with any skill, it takes time and energy to learn them. It seems much more reasonable that this time and effort in the core activities of your business.
Still develop a website

Still want to develop a website then here are a number of issues.

- Determine the purpose of your website.
- Examine how your audience is searching for the products or services you offer.
- Determine the design and functionality of your new website.
- Choose a CMS based on the purpose and design of the website.
- Care for a logical navigation structure.
- Be careful with templates and plug-ins to install. If they are of poor quality (poorly programmed) than they can the performance, safety and findability of your site damage.
- Do not install too many plug-ins. This can negatively affect performance.
- Test everything before you make the website accessible to the public.
- Devise a plan how your visitors get to your website.
- Choose a good and reliable hosting provider.

We are always curious about your experiences with a particular CMS. Let me know what CMS you use and what experiences do you have ?
