Are .Edu Links still valuable for SEO Campaign?

I would like to know are these .edu are still working for link building and are they valuable for SEO campaign?

I think backlinks from edu and gov sites are really effective for getting good SERP.. if you have backlinks from these sites means you have more reffering domains

.edu and .gov are useful, but .org? everyone can register .org website, to have .edu You need to have education institution, to have .gov it must be goverment institution so You can't have those domains.
