What is the difference between broad and phrase types of keywords

Can any one tell me the that what is the difference between broad and phrase types of keywords?

Both are good techniques to find out a keyword analysis through ad-word tool. But Both are opposite to each other the Broad keywords gives and add the remaining words it means it can search and include the long and short tail keywords. And coming to phrase it can includes the singular and plurals also..
