Why website image should be 72 px resolution?

72 Pixels is the standard web resolution. It is the standard internet resolution. If you do not follow these standards, then images can't load quickly.

For suppose if you have a camera taken picture of 4MB with 300 resolution, you should not upload it directly to website. Because it will take much longer time to download in the common user who has very normal internet speed.

In the matter of internet speed and fast access of the website we should use 72 resolution only.

I disagree with your comment regarding 300dpi resolution images.

You can absolutely use these one websites, provided you optimise them properly. Yes, they will take a little longer to load that say a 72dpi image, however with the right optimisation, most people won't notice the difference in load times.

I think your net is high speed...I'm talking about a common user low Internet speed conditions.
we have to think from all angles.

I am saying with my real time experience.

of course your theory is possible at some conditions.

Then what about common internet speed users? Can you upload a 300 resolution picture directly into website? I said about resolution not about the pixels. Any how thank you so much for your response.

72 px resolution is standard setting for new domain in any graphic software (Photoshop) and when you save for webs, your images are also in this resolution hence it is recommended to use 72 px resolution for website images.
Also, using lower resolution for images will reduce image size and helping your website loading faster on browsers.
