how to succeed with paid traffic?

Having more paid traffic offers for me out there but i'm wondering how to succeed with them? how to invest into paid traffic effectively that it can bring us more conversations/sales?
In your point of view, which are the most important things to succeed with paid traffic?

Depends where the paid traffic is from. Real paid traffic costs BIG! The cheap traffic you see on all the micro gig sites from "good sellers" is all traffic exchange visitors. So the only way I've had this traffic convert is going straight to the traffic exchange myself and setting up a campaign for SEO, JVzoo products, and stuff internet marketers use, because that is primarily using traffic exchanges. If its not a cheap product IMs can use, you can forget about conversions.

BUT, I have heard of sites paying for 1,000,000 visitors a month for very cheap (obviously very fake) visitors just to rack up their impression count and charge advertisers more!
