I think sub domains has individual traffic and site ranks. So all your credits are splitting if you use sub domains but sub directory centralize all your credits into the domain name or root.

I like android platform but I have both windows and android. I like android because I can customize it, I can use customized OS, I can root and I have power to work more with my device. I think windows and iOS is good for nothing and for basic users. Advanced user wont like.
