All those terms are related to search engine optimization.

When you ask about no-follow links then you need to know about do-follow also.

When you ask about robots.txt file then you have to know about sitemap.xml also.

That page is wrong though. It says that the nofollow tag will tell search engines not to crawl pages being linked to from that page. That is incorrect. Search spiders crawl all links and pages being linked to.

What they index and how they treat those links is something different. They still technically 'follow' the links though to the next page.

Noindex tells search engines that you do not want that page to show up in their search index.
Index is the opposite.
Nofollow says that you do not want the links on the page to pass on PageRank or keyword relevance to the pages they are linking to.
