Personally I like using Sub Domain in my eyes it looks more professional. Not that using a directory is bad it can get confusing so when I want another sub site I use sub domains

WordPress by far is the best because your able to create any type of website that you want to create. It offers the best plugins, themes and easy to customize. I have used Joomla which is decent however I had many issues with it. So in my opinion WordPress wins.

With blogs you get a unstyled xml sheet which can be confusing to read. I currently use FeedBurner by google to manage my RSS Feed. With FeedBurner your able to have members subscribe using many different networks such as google and yahoo.

I to use forum signatures to promote my website and I also use my friends to help get my site around. I try to share my articles on many different websites and place a link to my blog. I also use twitter as a method of sharing.

I agree .com gives the best results when I used a .org I had a harder time finding it via Google. I know many .org users have amazing luck with Google so in my opinion go with .com

Hey there you may want to try posting unique content that no other websites offer. You also what to customize your Meta data and add a veriaty of keywords for your website as well as telling your friends about it and asking them to tell their friends. I hope that helps you
