You want affiliates, or just new members? They are a different target audience.

Are your articles well-written and unique, or are they the same content found on your competitors sites? To draw in more organic traffic you need to stand out with good & engaging content that your visitors will want to share and, therefore, grow your audience.

Focus on your content, make it easy to find, and Google will reward you accordingly. You can do all sorts of technical SEO stuff, but if your content is garbage it won't matter at all.

I'd forget Google totally, and run the ads in Bing, as it's more a buyers market and they are way more affiliate link friendly than Google. :)
