Look into your metatags to see if anything is off there. It may also be a partial crawl where the full indexing comes later. Google is slow like that.

If you have the ability to create a custom theme, then do so, as it's always good to be unique and set yourself apart from the sea of sites. However, most people don't have that ability, so they just grab a pre-made theme and go with it.
