How to make a site approved for Amazon affiliate program?

In the past I have an affiliate website and registered Amazon affiliate program but it was not approved and I didn't have reasons from them. Anyone has good experience on this please share me any tips on how to make a site approved for Amazon affiliate program? Its possible to use the API from Amazon where to show the products automatically on my site?
