Email is quite effective as most people still check their email everyday.
However as social media trend is growing rapidly, we must harness it to achieve maximum reach.

People dont like to be sent unnecessary email. A good tip is that dont add people to your list without asking permission first. You will be viewed as a spammer if you send them anything without asking first.

Respond promptly to email inquiries: The hallmark of good customer service on the Internet is the quick response time to email inquiries. Make sure that you respond to emails from your subscribers quickly to assure the person that you are taking care of his/her concerns.

A few tips I have:
- Email your list a 7-12 day follow up email series, with each email containing valuable information that helps your subscribers solve their problem. Include the occasional promotional reminder about your main product and how it will solve their problem. At the end of the series send them a promo email dedicated to promoting your offer. Also send the occasional testimonial/success story/case study about someone whose bought your product. It's said people often need exposure to an offer 7-12 times on average before they buy.
- Don't send lots of promos, only every 3-4 emails is what i do
- Send them something of value right off the bat as soon as they subscribe
- Add your personality into your emails, be yourself, it will make your emails memorable if people can relate to who you are and will want to open your emails more
- Look after your list and don't promote crappy stuff that won't help them just for a quick buck, also promote things of value
- Something I do is send my subscribers to 'pre-sell' pages that contain an article or video that has valuable content on it then at the end of it suggest they check out my offer...this works much better than just sending them a promo email straight to the offer.

Those are just a few things I like to do...hope that helps :)

If you have a good list of subscribers then you need to interact with your list on a regular basis or at least send one newsletter once a week. In that way you can improve your website traffic as well as the conversion rate.

Email marketing tips are as below:

Design your newsletter to fit your brand. Your email campaigns should match your brand’s look and feel. If you’re using a template, you might want to customize it to include your company’s colors and logo in the header. If your emails are consistent with the rest of your company’s content, then readers will feel more familiar from the start.

Make it scannable. Your subscribers are busy people who get a lot of email, so it’s safe to assume you dont have their undivided attention. Instead of one long block, break up your content into short paragraphs. Include subheadings and images to guide readers through your email and make it easier to scan, and add a teaser to the top of your newsletter to tell subscribers what’s in store. If you’re sending a long article, consider inserting a “read more” link so people can get to the rest when it’s convenient for them. Your subject line should be to-the-point and easy to digest, too. You might even want to a/b test subject lines to see which ones perform best.
