Hi, Kerrin here. I’m new to SEO and, with the recent Google updates, I’m trying to understand what strategies are actually working now. What are you guys focusing on to improve rankings? I’d really appreciate it if you could share some tips or things that have been working well for you lately?

Hi Kerrin, welcome to SEO! A lot has changed with the recent Google updates, but I’d focus less on chasing individual updates and more on building a site that clearly demonstrates relevance and trust.
A few things that have been working well for me:
  • Strong topical coverage: Build useful content around a topic instead of publishing lots of unrelated articles.
  • Search intent: Make sure the page actually satisfies what the searcher is looking for.
  • First-hand experience: Add original insights, examples, data, case studies, or practical experience where possible.
  • Technical SEO: Keep crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, internal linking, and structured data clean.
  • Internal linking: Build clear topical relationships between important pages.
  • Quality backlinks: Focus on relevant, authoritative links rather than simply increasing link volume.
  • Local SEO: For local businesses, keep GBP, citations, reviews, location relevance, and on-page signals consistent.
  • AEO/GEO: I’m also paying more attention to how content is structured for AI search and answer engines. Clear answers, entities, context, and well-organized information can help.
The biggest change I’ve noticed is that publishing more content isn’t necessarily the answer anymore. I’d rather have 20 genuinely useful pages with strong topical relevance than 200 thin articles targeting every variation of a keyword.
Hope that helps, and good luck with your SEO journey!

It is important to focus on creating useful and unique content that directly answers users’ questions. For SEO, improve technical SEO, internal linking, and build quality backlinks. For AEO and GEO, structure your content clearly so search engines and AI platforms can understand it easily.

SEO is still the foundation, but I think the mindset has changed. Instead of creating content just to rank for keywords, focus on answering real user questions better than anyone else. Structure your content with clear headings, FAQs, and concise answers so it's easier for both search engines and AI assistants to understand. At the same time, build topical authority by publishing related content consistently rather than chasing individual keywords. In the long run, websites that demonstrate real expertise and provide helpful, trustworthy information are the ones most likely to perform well across SEO, AEO, and GEO.

I think the best approach is to focus on useful, high-quality content first. For SEO, make sure the site is technically sound and answers real user questions. For AEO, use clear questions and direct answers, while GEO can benefit from relevant local information and strong location signals. I’d focus on helping users rather than trying to chase every Google update.

Most of the time I experience the use of AI in GEO and AEO questions.

AEO, SEO, and GEO work together to improve visibility across traditional search engines and AI-driven search platforms. A good strategy should focus on technical SEO, helpful content, structured data, clear answers to user questions, and strong topical authority.

Three different goals, one overlapping foundation.

SEO gets you ranking on Google. Strong content, backlinks, technical health, search intent matching. Still the base everything else builds on. AEO gets you into AI generated answers. Structure content around direct questions, answer fast and clearly, add FAQ schema, write in a conversational tone that AI engines can pull cleanly. GEO gets your brand cited by AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity. Build entity authority, get mentioned on credible external sites, keep your information consistent across the web.

All three reward the same thing. Genuinely useful, well structured, trustworthy content. Get that right and you show up everywhere.
