Although it’s possible, moving your blog to a new domain name can be quite impactful for your current SEO rankings. But if you manage to do it right, you might be able to achieve it without any dire consequences.

These are a few steps that you can follow:
  • Create a backup of the older site with the Duplicator.
  • Then, create a database for your new site.
  • Upload the archives and installer to your new domain.
  • Set up a Permanent 301 redirect.

You can move your blog to your new domain by following these steps:
1. Make sure the destination domain has a clean past
2. Review existing backlinks and search performance
3. Migrate the site
4. Add redirects from the old domain to the new one
5. Tell Google about the domain change
6 Check again.

Hi

Rebuild your site on the new domain. Begin creating new content as quickly as possible, paying special attention to link bait style articles that will help build up backlinks to your new domain right away. At the same time, build a new 404 page for your old site that points visitors to your name.

Really what does it matter when every backlink is for the old domain anyhow. Ever bought a domain with backlinks? Either keep both or duplicate the content and not care. You won't tranfer jack of the traffic no matter how you do it. You are starting again period.
