A lot of people expect SEO to work like paid advertising, but it usually takes months before significant results appear. Search engines need time to crawl, understand, and trust your website. For those who have invested in SEO before, how long did it take before you started seeing meaningful improvements?

Because Google is essentially running a long background check on your website before trusting it.
Fresh content from a new or low authority site doesn't rank immediately because Google needs to crawl it, index it, understand what it's about and then measure how people interact with it over time. That process takes months not days.
Backlinks take time to build naturally. Domain authority doesn't appear overnight. Competing pages have months or years head start on you.
SEO compounds though. Results that take six months to show up keep delivering for years without ongoing spend. That's the trade off most people underestimate when they quit too early.

most people think seo should show quick results, but it usually stays quiet for a while before anything meaningful kicks in that early phase is just google figuring out your site and building trust
