What is a good web hosting service to run my ecommerce?

I am looking to get my bussiness on the web. I currently am running a basic site thru Network Solutions, but want to upgrade to an ecommerce site, One of my friend recommend vpb.com to order server. Not a bit expensive. Anyone heard about this company before? Can anyone check their server then give some suggestion? Thanks in advance!

I have never heard of VPB and can't find any reviews for them online. Although this isn't necessarily a bad sign, it is a reason to be cautious. Make sure you fullly ask about what they offer/provide, are they a reseller or do they own their own hardware, and what is their support like.

Do you know what specs you need in a server? There are plenty of providers that would be glad to discuss your needs and come up with a solution to meet those needs perfectly.

VPB has been in business since 1996 and has a ton of servers available in multiple datacenters. I cannot comment on the quality of their service, and as RDO Servers said, there isn't much online about them. We really can't give recommendations on a specific server without first knowing your requirements.

VPB hasn't been in business since 1996 unless they were on another domain. vpb.com has been registered since then but they have not been on vpb.com, it was a domain for sale recently at least since this year in May 30th 2015.

There's a screenshot at the link below showing the domain for sale on May 30th 2015. Prior to that the most recent use of the domain was for domain parking.

They probably bought the domain with the intent of misleading people into thinking they have been around since 1996, since the whois registrar=tion for the domain goes back till then. This is a common tactic for new websites.

There was nothing on their site, especially on the about page saying when they started business so more than likely this is a new company/reseller.

I'm not saying they are bad, just that they seem to be only a few moths old so caution should be used if the OP intends to use them.

I never heard about them but I want to suggest you to use VPS instead of shared hosting for ecommerce because of it will be not good for security to host eCommerce website on a shared environment.

You need a dedicated environment to ensure that your customer data is protected.

You could go with your own VPS or dedicated servers if you need the dedicated resources. There are plenty of hosting companies out there who can provide this.

I guess it would start with what is your budget. I'm guessing you won't need anything major like a dedicated server since you're running just a basic site. Have you considered built in solutions like monstercommerce or volusion?
