Traffic Exchangers

Hi, I'm fairly new to internet marketing, so I joined an affiliate program, which is great, but they only show how to get traffic through paid advertising. I can't afford to do that yet, so I was looking for free traffic sources. I came across traffic exchanges and thought they were a good idea. I've got some traffic from them, but no sign ups yet.

DO you think these type of things really work?

and if so could you recommend the best ones, and more importantly the ones to stay clear off?

Traffic Exchange sites are really waste of time. People visits your site to earn credits only. They have nothing to do with your content. Traffic exchange sites only provide you junk traffic. There are other free traffic generation methods like Forums, Guest posting, Blog commenting, Social networking sites, Web 2.0 sites etc.

But if you can exchange with high traffic sites and related to your niches then that would be more benefit for your site, right?
What you consider is a waste of time when doing traffic exchange?

All Traffic exchange sites are of same quality in terms of traffic. So, I have tried many of them but did not get any good result.

Traffic exchanges depending on what it is can be a waste as normally its the same kind of people using the site after the same results, All you will probably get from this is hits to your site not valuable traffic unless on the off chance someone will be interested in what you have to offer.

Believe it or not, traffic exchanges actually work, but the
trick is to make the right offer. If you throw up your sales
page, then you are definitely wasting your time. But if
you give them a capture page that is simple,clean, and
has a few words to grab their attention, then you will
definitely get some subscribers that you can market to
in the future.

Keep in mind that with traffic exchanges, you only have
a few seconds to display your ad so you have to make
the most of it. If you want free traffic, try a handful of
free safelists to join. In my experience, I received a
higher response from safelists than I did from traffic
exchanges.
