How does Google crawling works?

How does Google crawl our website and backlinks associated with it? How often they do? How much days does it take for Google to change my keyword ranking if they have recently indexed any of my backlinks associated with that keywords?

loL...interesting question I thought I knew this but now I have to check again, in my point of view, google crawl a web page from the top to bottom, from left to right, google crawl your site base on Pagerank or new content updated, am I right?...about crawling backlinks on a webpage then I may not know
Can anyone gives additional information?
