How to install 7zip on CentOS 6.4?

Hi everyone,

I heard about 7zip and I want to install it on my VPS, is it possible?
If yes, suggest me easy ways

7zip is the support file compression and decompression freeware on Linux, but it's not in the default CentOS repo. To be able to install 7zip, we need to use repository RPMforge.

As my knowledge then to install 7zip on your vps, you need to do some simple ways as following

Install repository

wget http://packages.sw.be/rpmforge-release/rpmforge-release-0.5.2-2.el6.rf.i686.rpm
rpm -ivh rpmforge-release-0.5.2-2.el6.rf.i686.rpm

Install 7zip

yum install p7zip

Unzip file

7za x [7zfilename]

Compress file

7za a -mx=9 7zfilename.7z [filename/directory]

Yes it is possible but I would suggest using unzip and zip command which already have on Centos

Also, using Zip and Unzip from SSH is more faster and better than using on web browser from your web hosting control panel.
