According to a study about digital Ads crime conducted in between July and September 2014, Internet Marketers will lose $6 billion in 2015 to fraudsters who use robots to exploit the online advertising industry.

Fraudsters have created software that mimics mouse clicks and cursor movements which gives the impression that a real person is visiting your website.

Once the software is installed on a hijacked computer or within their own servers, the fraudsters will be able ask the Bots to click on certain sites. This benefits them by selling Ads within their own websites or profit through directing fake traffic to an affiliate’s website.

A Bot can be made to look like someone who has a seven figure income, or someone who intends to buy a car, or someone who looking for holiday gifts.

As an Internet Marketer, do you feel in danger of such antics? Is there a way from stopping being preyed upon by such Bots? Is engaging in such fraud worth the effort? Let us have your views.

Yes I do!!! For example lets say you have a website (or web site from previous discussion ;-) is using adsense... Then its really easy to lose your account to click bombers whom wish to cause harm....

It happens all of the time.. Just look online for clickbombing victims.... As such I use scripts to protect adsense which only allows one click of the ad per IP within a specified time with the ad rotating to alternative ad which is not adsense.... I once lost an ad account to a clickbomber on a much smaller network (thankfully not adsense) and despite numerous appeals they just didn't care... From that I learned and moved on...

In addition when I use Google Adwords - I personally don't bother with my ads appearing on adsense sites... My ads are only for the search results and not to appear on websites... I get a better ROI and mitigate against such instances of losing money to fraudulent clicks with people trying to make money in this way....
