Hello

One of my wordpress blogs doesn't have responsive design, maybe it built as old model, I must use a WP plugin to run it as mobile style when viewing on mobile devices.
If I convert it to a responsive design, will SEO ranking for my blog improve?
My question is, does responsive design have SEO benefit?

Hello BillEssley! Without any question, You should take it as soon as possible. Because, Now I'm getting it's benefits properly. Why? Because you can maintain your back-links, social share through one url, Directly. And I think it is one of the best SEO benefit that it is user friendly. Google loves it so much.

Google has publicly stated that websites with a responsive design will get a higher priority when it comes to mobile search... Its a bit vague as there are also many other ranking factors, but either way I am inclined to believe that it contributes....

In fact the other day I got a message within WMT outlining recommendations for improving one of my sites responsive designs and on that message it stated:

Google systems have tested 1 pages from your site and found that 100% of them have critical mobile usability errors. The errors on these 1 pages severely affect how mobile users are able to experience your website. These pages will not be seen as mobile-friendly by Google Search, and will therefore be displayed and ranked appropriately for smartphone users.
Interesting for sure! Ironically I'm actually using a responsive WP theme and G is still complaining about it... For me it looks okay on a mobile device... So it does make me wonder how effective that damn test really is lol...

Hope that helps!

There is absolutely no doubt that responsive website design is a prime requirement these days. Mobile devices are used mainly for local searches and so a responsive website really helps. Also, responsive design enhances user experience and reduces high bounce rate.

On the 21st of April, Google announced the information that the newest algorithm update will favorize responsive web pages in mobile search results.
This update will bring the unique and equal UX to users through all devices. Link
The right way to solve this problem will be to download full responsive theme for your blog or to modify existing one which is easier and quicker in my opinion.
