Hi guys
Need your advice, I want to open a new site about wordpress tutorials and web related topics but I really don't know this niche can generating more organic traffic or not.
I came across eHow, Wikihow and similar sites and found that they are getting good traffic and they already to pay for their writers...etc
My question is, are tutorial sites getting more traffic and I should try it?

Paul,

Generally — I think yes, authority tutorial sites get decent to awesome traffic, and Youtube probably has the largest traffic share for tutorials in multiple industries and niches ... :D

;) And, I think it'd be best to include Youtube in your advertising, brand positioning and offsite content marketing campaigns, among other niche tutorial authority sites ...

Found IN THIS OLD POST HERE is a list of tutorial repositories, many of which are in Web development and design niches — Check each of these out and prune this list into fully functional tutorial repositories with the highest relevance to your target viewers and with the most significant traffic numbers at the moment (remember, it's an old post) ... :)

:D That's it for now. Cheers! :)

The answer is a big resounding YES and tutorial sites get a lot of organic traffic. Tutorials are also easy to promote and can go viral without a lot of effort, just as long as you're offering people content that helps them solve a specific problem(s).

Yes you can try it but be patient, grow your traffic gradually and never give up. It might take a while unless if you have a good budget or know some ninja marketing tricks. This is a long term strategy and has a lot of benefits.

I would also advise you to build and email list and offer a service or sell a product to maximize profits. Don't just rely on advertising.

But I would go with something that people are passionate about not wordpress and web related topics. For instance, if I have a problem on wordpress. I'll just go to Google or Youtube then learn how to solve the problem, then done. I won't follow the person looking for more wordpress related tutorials.

Same process applies to sites like eHow and Wikihow, once I find what I'm looking for, I'm out. However website like eHow do have a big following so you can try it out but for tutorial websites I would go with something people are passionate about like playing guitar, photography, fitness, art etc. Passionate people will keep coming back to your site for more content.

After giving you the benefits and risk, it's time for you to decide. Let me know your decision :)

Personally I think you are much better off with video. It gives you he opportunity to build a brand. people remember the person and voice on a video tutorial if you put some personality into it. Text tutorials I do a google search and don't know or care what site its one or who wrote it. Video tutorials are really blowing up on places like Udemy too

Yes, any websites or blogs that teach what people are wanting to learn will always do good, especially if the content is good and gives lots of value to the reader. Map out what you want to teach and what you would want to learn if you were on the receiving end and you will have a winner!

In this day and age, when people are too busy and do not know how to get things done fast and need instant information, the tutorial sites come in very handy. From as simple as doing everyday chores to as complex as running a machine or design, there are sites one can turn for help. Even those who practically do not have any experience in a special skill or talent can get their special training online.

Sites like YouTube, eHow, WikiHow are some of the popular sites I use for reference. They include a pretty comprehensive selection of topics. The experience is always fun or if not enlightening. As technology advances and new products or services are introduced in the market, the tutorials will continue to be in demand and will expand to provide new learning experiences.

The new game for tutorials is the challenge of finding in-demand or unmet learning skills not provided yet by any site or further simplifying some of the learning presentation almost close to virtual reality.
