What is the role of Google webmaster tool in SEO?

I want to ask your opinion, does Google webmaster tool have any roles in SEO your site or its just a tool for measure your keywords on G search engine?

Good question! l'd say Yes, because like other essential tools Google Webmaster tool currently known as Google search console plays in important role in SEO Strategy. If you've recently launched a new SEO strategy and want to see how effective it is, then this tool will help you a lot and it is recommended for all experts and online marketers. In this tool you can check, Search Queries, Links, Crawl Errors, Sitemaps, Robots.txt and Other Advanced Stuffs.

You can see how many peoples search for specific keyword and If any keyword is not related to your niche then you can prevent this which help to improve SEO.

If you use any automated method then you will receive warning which is a plus point and also If you update your post/page and want to make changes in title,etc then you can use crawl function.

Another benefit is exposing your blog to Google so they can penalize you easily. Bottom line is that you need to look at how many sites are listed on page one Google search. That's the reality you need to understand. Everyone else is just giving Google way too much information and power.

I think its also a good tool to avoid from banning by Google when knowing that you have how many link spams, page errors or low quality pages pointing to you so that you can remove them by their tools as disallow tool.

What exactly do you think you are hiding from them about your site by not putting Webmaster Tools on it? If you are doing something that deserves to be penalized, they know about it whether you are using Webmaster Tools or not.

Absolutely true, there's no hiding from big G. and I don't see the point of hiding anyway. Like, you want traffic from google but you're hiding or preventing google from accessing your site? It doesn't make sense, unless if you don't want search engine traffic then that's understandable.

The Search Console (webmaster tools) helps me track my banklinks, get search statistics, find insight on crawling, indexing status, check broken links and I get notifications when my site is down or get malware, bugs, spam and viruses. Another benefit is that search engines will have a better understanding of what your website is all about.

Another important feature is the click-through-rate, it's hard to find great insight like CTR (you can't just go to page 1 of google to find this info) which also makes it easy to scale-up or increase your traffic.

There's a lot of stuff you can do with the Search Console besides what I have mentioned and would recommend it for anyone who's into SEO.

The main role that I see in google webmaster tools is that, it serve as your guide on how to improve your site and what should be removed.
