I would have to say the best forum software would have to be Invision Power Board because of the features and being the easiest to use. vBulletin is also very popular with some huge communities.

I agree to you, xenforo is potential but it needs time to become perfect like vbulletin. I used xenforo and I think it has less add ons to use like I did on vbulletin.
