What is different between publisher and advertiser?

I have just signed up as an advertiser but it seems wrong because I wanted to be a publisher to earn money from my blogs with ad networks.
They are the same. Can anyone explain me what is different between publisher and advertiser??

Advertiser is selling something and looking for publishers to be affiliates or buy ad space from.

Publisher is providing ad space. AKA an affiliate. AKA a blogger.

Advertisers are the product or service providers. While publishers are the promoters who are promoting the products provided by advertisers and gain some commission after a successful sale. It is mutual benefit for both the entity.
