How to increase indexed pages?

Anyone here can suggest ways how to increase indexed pages for website, blog or forum ?
and in your opinion, more indexed pages are good for search engine optimization ?

Any thoughts ?

Yeah!! submit an XML site map to Google and yahoo. It is the most effective and quickest way to get your website indexed in Google.

For a while now webmasters have fretted over why all of the pages of their website are not indexed. As usual there doesnt seem to be any definite answer. But some things are definite, if not automatic, and some things seem like pretty darn good guesses.
