How to keep keyword rankings on Google search results?

I have a few keywords that get ranked high on Google search engine and they are giving my websites more traffic, but some times keywords from Top #1 jumped to Top #5 or Top #7 and really difficult to get them back top #1. My question is, how to keep keyword rankings on Google search results?

Look at everyone's content that ranks above you. Keep updating your content so it is better and more RELEVANT. Also look at the ones ranking above you internal linking structure. Then improve yours.

This is a game that goes back and forth. Once you pull ahead of someone, they most likely will work on improving their site to rank above you again.

Ranking on Google is a game, if you got to understand that game then it will work for you.
1) If you rank #1 on Google this means you have something good in your article.
2) If your rank get lower then that means your competitor have done something much better than you.
3) Now what you have to do is, just analyse your competitor's article and update your article with same manner. And keep updating it time to time.

There is no other solution than that.
