As a new forum your excited and want to cover every type of forum you think members want. If you create to many categories it will make your forum look dead and not cared about. Start of with general categories and if a topic become popular make a subforum. It takes time for you forum to become huge so don't quit after 2 weeks cause you only have 5 or 10 members.
