Which methods do you use to drive traffic to your site?

I have a website which hasn't had a lot of traffic
and I would like to know how I can get more targetted vistors to the site.
What methods have you succesfully used to drive more traffic to your site?

I used forum signature, social networkings, banner exchange...to get traffic to my site. Nowadays it's difficult to put backinks on other quality websites. traffic from social is not more potential, only best way depends on you, you need to have more useful information on your website, if it's useful for people, they will visit your website regularly, and you will have stable traffic.
