I've heard of this term once, but I can't figure out if it's good or bad for SERPs? And how to use keywords cannibalization?

Cannibalization refers to a situation in which multiple pages on a website target the same or very similar keywords, leading to confusion for search engines and potentially hurting the site's search engine rankings. In other words, if a website has multiple pages targeting the same keyword or keyword phrase, they can "cannibalize" each other's search rankings, making it harder for any of the pages to rank highly in search engine results pages (SERPs).

In general, cannibalization is not good for SERPs because it dilutes the website's authority and relevance for the targeted keywords, making it harder for search engines to determine which page is the most authoritative and relevant for the given search query.

To avoid cannibalization, you should focus on creating unique and high-quality content for each page on your website, and target different sets of keywords for each page. This will help ensure that each page on your website has a specific purpose and unique content that search engines can use to determine its relevance and authority for specific search queries.

For example, if you have an e-commerce website selling clothing, you might have multiple pages targeting keywords like "women's dresses," "summer dresses," and "cocktail dresses." To avoid cannibalization, you should ensure that each page has unique content that targets specific variations of these keywords, such as "floral summer dresses" or "black cocktail dresses." This will help ensure that each page has a clear purpose and unique content that search engines can use to determine its relevance and authority for specific search queries.

Definitely a phenomenon to be avoided. Instead of a lot of pages, you get one in SERP, and the rest will be just useless.

Because it causes confusion for search engines when numerous pages on a website compete for the same target keywords, keyword cannibalization is generally bad for SERPs. In order to solve this problem and enhance overall search engine ranking, combine related material, make use of strategic internal linking, and make sure every page has a clear purpose.
