Hosting for a personal web project

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on web hosting for a small personal project. The idea would be to have something reliable and easy to manage to showcase my work, possibly with some statistics or dynamic content. I'm wondering if shared hosting is sufficient or if a VPS would be more suitable for a little more control and performance. Have any of you set up this kind of page with cPanel or Plesk? Even though it's not a very complex site, I'd like it to be easy to maintain and fast for visitors.

Shared hosting is fine for most normal traffic sites, including small personal projects.

For a small project like that, shared hosting with cPanel should be totally fine — cheap, easy to manage, and fast enough for a portfolio site. I’d only bother with a VPS if you really want custom server tweaks or expect traffic spikes. Otherwise, start simple and upgrade later if you outgrow it.

For a small personal project or portfolio, shared hosting with cPanel should be more than enough. it’s cheap, simple to manage, and fast for the kind of traffic you’ll probably get.
