Hello everyone! Just started with PPC advertising. I spent a bit on testing ads and learned a lot about what works and what wastes money.
Would love to hear your top tip for making PPC campaigns actually profitable without overspending.

My #1 tip for staying profitable is to obsess over your negative keywords. It’s just as important to decide who should not see your ads. If you’re selling high-end gear, you don’t want to pay for clicks from people searching for "free" or "cheap" versions. Check your search term reports daily at first, it’s the fastest way to stop the bleeding and save your budget for the actual buyers.

Focus on one winning ad and one good keyword first, stop all waste fast and scale only after you see real conversions, not just clicks.

Segment campaigns by intent and device. Track conversions closely and pause anything that underperforms. CPC bids should be based on ROI, not just traffic volume. Also, negative keywords are your friend to cut wasted clicks.

I’d suggest starting with a small budget, test different ads, track every click, and stop what’s not converting fast.

To make PPC campaigns profitable, focus on the right audience and specific keywords, and block irrelevant searches with negative keywords. Make sure your landing page is clear and easy to use, and keep testing ad copy to see what works. Track real results like sales or leads, start with a small budget, and retarget visitors who’ve already shown interest.

Start with exact match keywords only.
Broad match sounds tempting but it burns budget fast on irrelevant searches. When I first started, broad match ate 60% of my budget on traffic that never converted.
Build a solid negative keyword list from day one, this alone can cut wasted spend by 30-40%.
Then let the data talk. Run for 2-3 weeks before making big changes. Most beginners pause campaigns too early or tweak too often, which kills the learning phase.
One campaign, one goal. Don't try to do brand awareness and conversions at the same time with the same budget.
