I think the best approach is not to treat SEO, AEO and GEO as three completely separate strategies. For me, SEO is still the foundation. A website needs useful content, proper keywords, good internal linking, technical health and relevant backlinks before worrying too much about everything else. Then comes AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). Here I would focus on answering real questions clearly. Simple headings, direct answers, FAQs and well-structured content make it easier for both users and search/answer engines to understand the page.
With GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), I think credibility becomes even more important. Original insights, clear facts, useful examples, trustworthy sources and a recognizable brand can make content more valuable in an AI-driven search environment.
I'm still learning and experimenting with these areas through digital marketing training, but my approach would basically be:
Build for SEO → Answer for AEO → Strengthen authority for GEO. I wouldn't try to “optimize for AI” by stuffing content with new techniques. If the website genuinely answers what people are looking for and gives them something better than generic information, it already has a much stronger foundation.
I'd be interested to know if anyone here has actually seen measurable traffic or visibility improvements after specifically working on AEO or GEO.
