Using scarcity on sales pages

My sales pages seems to be doing pretty well, but I want to keep improving (As we always should :)). A few people have told me to use timers on my page.

Does anyone here use timers to create scarcity? If so, what kind of results have you had with it??

I've implemented a timer onto my sales page and will be comparing results.

Hiya Paul,

I indeed use them and they are great...!!!

However I do not use them on my main sales pages but on my upsells only... I suspect that on your public page it has a negative effect for most people - thats what I have experienced as people first see that and leave without bothering to read your sales copy.... Its almost like an alert to leave your page.... But after the sale and presented with a timed OTO (upsell or downsell) they work much more in your favour as they have already made a purchase and are more willing to take you up on your other stuff/offers... Well that's my personal experience....

Curious to hear other peoples opinion...

Once someone opts-in, they get taken to the page with a free technique. Beneath that is where my sales copy is for the full eBook is.

Do you think if the timer is out of view until they they read the free technique is okay??

I can see why you would want to do that... So its worth a try, but of course you'll want to split test it... try it out with 50% split between your list....

Personally my approach would be as follows:

1) Place the offer for more money without the timer on your site on a main page.
2) I would leave the free stuff for the email message... and provide lots of them as part of building trust.
3) On one of my messages I would provide a free exerpt of the book and point out the full price of it on the main page... However tomorrow you will provide a special treat...
4) Next day... Email the discount link with the timer..

The reason for this approach is that you have warmed them up to your product, they have seen the main page price and excerpt hopefully... Also you build a bit more trust with offering free advice as part of efforts to build a relationship....

Aaahhh, it sounds great for emails.

I've actually been using this funnel for lead generation (Using solo ad traffic)

This is what I've been thinking of using:

1) Squeeze Page

2) Free tip and then goes into the sales copy with the timer just above the start of the copy.

3) If they don't buy, they get taken to a downsell.

I'll be split testing anyway to get the best results possible!

Just like Elcidofaguy said, timers work well in your upsell and downsell not in the front-end offer. But they work really well during holidays. For instance, using a valentine's day special offer that ends February 16. Timers work very well on holiday specials, try it for easter, thanks giving, christmas, new year etc.

People save up a lot of cash for holidays and if they see special offer or discount sale they buy easily. So use timers during holidays and in your upsell and downsell.
