Hi everyone,

I am curious about what you are thinking now about building your list from an email marketing strategy

Should you email them right away with an offer, an introduction, a free download or a promotion?

Should you email them every day or each week or each month?

Should you giving them free content and promotions and always change them?

Here's a formula that I learned the other day that I'm currently implementing:

The formula for an email marketing strategy

Day 1. Intro and Download
Day 2. Free Content
Day 3. Free Content
Day 4. Your Own offer or High Converting Affiliate Offer
Day 5. Free Content
Day 6. Offer
Day 7. Free content
Day 8. Free content
Day 9. Affiliate Offer
Day 10. Affiliate Offer (same as Day #9)

I hope to hear your thoughts!

Regards,
Alex

Alex Nice Post! I personally wouldn't necessarily use the term free content unless you mean free ebook/report etc... I assume you mean a helpful post with tips and advice etc....

What works best for me is to keep emails short and to encourage people to visit your blog to a hidden page or membership site with the content (not crawled by search engines) and use that for the details... On that you can place your offers as banners etc... In addition you can mix up helpful content with the odd link i.e. this product/ebook covers how to implement these tips in more detail etc..

In addition if your primary offer is on day 6, I dont think you are promoting it as well as you could... You need to do follow-ups....

Another good strategy is to use "scarcity/time limited offers"... i.e. at the footer of your message you could say "primary offer expires in xx days from now... check it out..." - hence even on posts where you offer helpful content you still slip in a reminder for your primary offer....

Either way I like your formula... as your are implementing and doing your best....

One last thing - make sure to track your clicks, open rates etc... and learn/adapt accordingly...

Cheers,

Sid

What's working best for me at the moment is to create a secret blog, each day I send them a video tutorial with a call to action. The emails are really short and straight to the point no wishy washy crap :DD:

Just like Elcidofaguy has already mentioned above. Also add facebook comments, the more social proof you have the higher your conversions will be.

In my emails I tell them that the tutorials are exclusive and they should never share them with anyone. The title of the blog is also "Exclusive Tuts For..." and in the beginning of each video I always say "welcome to another exclusive..."

Always have a call to action at the end of the video don't leave people guessing what to do next, let them know where to click for more detailed tuts without sounding like you're selling, keep the sales pitch short.

You can also use text if you can't make videos for the blog post but videos are much simpler to create and convert better. Avoid any distraction and keep everything focused with one end goal or call to action or else they won't take any action.

Make the tutorial one page with no navigation, menu bar, sidebar (unless if the banners are related to the call to action). You must also send pitch emails (offer or affiliate promotion) once in a while. This is how I do it:

Day 1: Content (video blog post with call to action to offer)
Day 2: same as day 1
Day 3: same as day 1
Day 4: Pitch
Day 5: same as day 1
Day 6: same as day 1
Day 7: Pitch
Day 8: Pitch

If they still don't buy after 8 days then to hell with them all they'll get is emails for affiliate products I'm promoting haha :DD:

I keep the rest of the content for buyers, then I'll use a similar process for buyers so that they must buy the upsell and membership subscription.
