Hey, every...!

Yesterday I got an email of affiliate promotion. I found that Godaddy offered $1 hosting plan called "Economic plan". You know..? It was really impressed, and I want to grab that hosting. However, I worry about hosting performance. So, I would love ask for some recommend from all of you...

Anyway, did anyone have some experience with that offering...?

I don't know about their hosting but a few years ago I had a domain name from them. Somebody used the name in spam emails and even though it was quite clear from the headers that they were not originating from my hosting GoDaddy blocked the domain. They never replied to numerous emails and eventually I gave up and let the domain expire.

Google Godaddy problems, there are 16,000,000 results. The most common is if you search for a domain name and then go back later to buy it you will find that Godaddy has registered it and wants a higher price for it.

I wouldn't touch them personally.

Godaddy is a GREAT domain registrar, there is no doubt about that, however they are a horrendous hosting provider and time and time again customers who choose to utilize their services quickly go another route.

If by great you mean cheap I would agree with you. By any other standard they are anything but great. Google it. You will find numerous stories about them blocking domains, delaying transfers and a myriad of unsavoury business practises. Avoid like the plague!

Yep I've had that too... For example I recently purchased an expired domain... Having checked the whois for that domain I saw godaddy as being listed and hence attempted to put the order through directly with them. At first it said it was available and as I placed my order on the last screen I got a message that the domain was unavailable and that should I want it I should contact their broker...

I thought boll***s with that and looked it up on sedo... Placed my bid and got it a few days later with the owner accepting my bid without any hassle... The funny thing after I got the domain I checked godaddy and it stated that the particular domain was available with option for immediate purchase, even though I am the new owner lol....

Seriously how you can trust a company like that? I have also found with looking up new domains that those too became unavailable...

There are lots of other reasons I cant stand them from their horrible proprietary backend systems for control panel which is impossible to navigate and further it has hidden costs on things which you would expect to be free with any web host provider....

Remember the old saying "you get what you pay for".

A hosting company cannot make money and stay in buisinesa by selling hosting for $1/mo AND still provide quality services and support. To have such low prices, they must cut corners somewhere.

GoDaddy is a popular company, but they have a long running history of poor support, and overselling their servers.

I tend to check out other hosting services every now and then, but I've never tried GoDaddy, with the main reason being that I read so much negative about them, that I don't see the need to try it for myself. Seen more than one report just over the last week of specifically the $1-plan, and the reviews have been horrendous.

I'd steer clear, no doubt about that. Whilst I understand the price is attractive, I'd rather place a little extra and ensure I get a quality service.

At that price if want to host with another company that is primarily known for being a domain registrar you will be much much better off going with Namecheap hosting at $9.98/year (1st year price).

Yes, I also check their price and they offer $1.00 hosting. Their price is really interesting for me, but since I have bad experience with them, I never want to host my site with them. I only use them for domain registration. For hosting I use asphostportal.

I have used Godaddy before and I really did not like the hosting with them. I had heard so much about them and it was just horrendous if I am honest. They are a domain registrar and they are good at that, but I would advise using another hosting provider.I use Siteground and they are okay, but have a look around and I am sure you will find one that suits your needs :)

They will provide you with hosting for a dollar that's for sure, however you will struggle with overall performance such as speed, service, etc... It's great for hosting static or hobby sites that rarely update and does not matter if they go offline time to time.

We just finished transferring 6 clients out of there due to how slow their websites would perform at different times of the day, specially in the evening. Most likely due to over crowded servers.

For domain registrations - personally i think they are great. I have had zero complaints and i have received great support for domains.

Generally speaking, be cautious with very well know companies.

Are they well know because of their good reputation, or just because of the boatloads of money they spend on advertising!?
