New vs. Returning visitors?

I'm curious what is better to make new visitors come back your website and what is the ratio of returning visitors on your site?
Have you done a research about it? Any ideas?

Getting new visitors is always better as far as SEO is concern.
I meant new visitors should be in the range of 70% and returning visitors should be in the range of 30% is always deemed to be good as SEo perspective.
