Hosting some websites on a VPS of Arvixe but they load pretty slowly and sometimes it got a downtime once around 3 months

I think their support is ok if you use live chat instead of using tickets.

Mine started off just being slow. now it's offline all the time. I just tried the live chat again. it said I was #37 in queue. that's pretty pathetic if you ask me

Hello DotNetNerd, welcome to WMS!

I'm sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your hosting. Sadly, I have heard a lot of similar stories lately. Here's a little back story for you that may help you understand what's going on.

A while back, Arvixe was acquired by EIG (Endurance International Group). EIG has a long standing history of purchasing well known and high quality hosting companies. (iPage, 1&1, HostGator, A Small Orange, Site5, etc). Many people are still using their hosting accounts after their acquisitions and don't have a problem at all. However I have also heard many reports of the service and especially support taking a turn for the worse after being bought out.

A couple months ago, EIG began moving Arvixe to their own datacenter. This is when things really got bad. Some servers and account were moved without any problems. Some got deleted all together. Some were packed into overcrowded servers.

To make matters worse, a couple weeks ago, EIG laid off most of the Arvixe staff. Arvixe support is now being operated by the same support staff that handles A Small Orange. Last I heard, they have 5,700+ tickets waiting in the queue...

Things may get better at Arvixe, but history would say this is not very likely. I'm sure things will stabilize, but I do not expect things will return to the way they once were.

I hope you are able to get things squared away one way or another.

@RDO Servers summarized what's happening with Arvixe really well :smart:
I'd just like to correct one thing and that's that 1&1 is not owned by EIG. At least to my knowledge anyway. I've tried my best to stay on top of their buyouts and have a list going of all the EIG brands to help those that want to avoid them.

Yes, I also found many complaints about their service within this 2 months. But, I hope that they will fix the issue faster. Since EIG acquired them, their service become worse. I hope EIG can sort their management problem

I think they have few tech support reps than before. Possible cost cutting. They really need to sort this one out.

Avrixe started a sudden mandatory migration with only one day notice as of recent, this is including dedicated server and vps customers. They basically up and moved their entire infrastructure, without doing so in a tiered manner. The reason this is really getting on my nerves is the sudden influx of Dedicated Server customers that we have gotten complaining at the fact that with this forced migration customers weren't given the opportunity to do it themselves or prepare the new servers for their applications, meaning much needed configurations and software weren't in place after said migrations. In the process also, it seems there was a complete outage. It could be that the infrastructure that they were using suddenly pulled the plug and and Avrixe was just restoring backups....

Avrixe is now operated by the ASO staff and the other day had a que of over 6,000 unanswered support tickets.... My advice? Run.

Yesterday all my sites hosted on the Langur server went down. They went back up earlier today. I was still experiencing some issues a couple hours ago where it would lose connection to the server, but it all appears to be back in order now.
